Role Overview

Genus Plc has an exciting opportunity. We are seeking a JR System Administrator – High Performance Computing to join our team using next generation technology to improve decision making and accelerate genetic improvement in bovine and porcine genetics on the basis of phenotypic and genomic data. The successful candidate is a self-starter, resilient, adaptable and willing to take ownership.

You Will

  • Analyze system logs and identify potential issues
  • Install and configure new hardware, software, and applications
  • Manage Operating Systems, software, and application updates and configurations
  • Own system and deployment documentation
  • Troubleshoot any reported issues
  • Perform system, storage and application performance tuning
  • Liaise with IT regarding:
    • Network communication (i.e. datacenter and cloud)
    • Datacenter infrastructure and server racking and cabling
    • Validation of CloudOps deployments
    • Security assessments
    • Application licensing
  • Manage storage and filesystem access
  • Facilitate user management and communication
  • Manage user accounts
  • Provide support for Computing and Access
  • Actively participate in Company training opportunities to further develop applicable skills.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the Company’s business and the department’s role within the company

Requirements

Basic Qualifications: (required)

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Linux system environments
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with BASH scripting
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience using Git repositories

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GitOps automation
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience with major cloud technology vendors; Azure, GCP, and AWS.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
