Role Overview

Genus plc has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Research Specialist to work in collaboration with others to explore new cellular assays, innovative technologies, and cell handling processes from concept through development and transfer to a production environment. The position is located in our Windsor, WI office with periodic travel to our DeForest, WI laboratory location. The Research Specialist has primary accountability for acting as a leader in the laboratory, developing mid-term projects independently with high scientific rigor and data presentations.

 

The successful candidate can work in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment and can work autonomously and collaboratively across functional teams with strong attention to detail. The Research Specialist can also multi-task with the ability to prioritize, problem solve and make decisions. The candidate will also be able to effectively communicate results and is a clear and influential communicator who builds effective relationships and partnerships with stakeholders.

You Will

  • Work as a cohesive part of the biosystems engineering research and development team.
  • Research, design and lead mid-term, innovative projects.
  • Design and conduct experiments independently and accurately, develop and execute protocols and test plans.
  • Perform experiments in a timely manner both with groups and individually.
  • Contribute to timelines and meeting milestones for projects.
  • Consistently demonstrate critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Assure proper handling of biological samples.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
  • Effectively communicate experimental results in both informal and formal meetings.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Maintain accurate and specific experimental records and perform independent, statistical data analysis.
  • Enhance knowledge of advancements in field, incorporate applicable lab techniques.
  • Display willingness to perform non-routine tasks as needed to ensure overall productivity is high.
  • Help maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and reagents.
  • Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.
  • Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
  • Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications: (required)

  • University degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including previous laboratory experience.
  • Experience using basic software applications including Microsoft Office, including statistical analysis
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Physical or Life Sciences with 0-2 years of experience
  • Background in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or sperm physiology is preferred.
  • Experience with cell handling, flow cytometry, PCR, fluorescence microscopy, and/or western blotting is preferred.
  • Ability to design, drive, and complete experiments and assignments in expected timeframe
