Role Overview

Are you an established BDM in the agriculture industry we are looking for a Distributor BDM to join our team in Europe

 

The Distributor Business Development Manager’s (BDM) overarching goal is towards the development and execution of strategy in non-direct ABS markets, to create substantial operating profit growth in strategic territories

 

The BDM will be responsible for managing existing Distributor partners and creating new routes to market to grow market performance in targeted markets. The BDM will hold full accountability for the commercial performance and P&L management in targeted markets delivered through business plans.

 

The BDM will engage resellers/distributors and drive a commercial strategy which involves building a more robust, predictable growth business with improving operating margins to drive global returns.

You Will

  • Working with the ABS Product Line Management & Commercial team and relevant sources to obtain market data & evaluate opportunity linked to ABS value propositions.  Developing an understanding of relevant markets and how they are likely to respond 
  • Responsible for finding, growing, managing the network of distributors in targeted markets for long-term agreements. Identify and engage with prospects, convert prospects into new route to markets (RTM). Ensure the distributor experience exceeds expectations
  • Negotiate and deliver commercial agreements including financial and legal due diligence
  • Responsible for growing a market by managing the network of distributors in targeted markets for long-term agreements
  • Prepare and agree operational and strategic action plans with the distributor
  • Prioritise resources and build capability in Distributors around value propositions
  • Develop the route to market; primarily by education on genetics, sales methodology and technical services to distributor employees, but also making changes in the route where appropriate
  • Deliver a strategy to grow operating profit through business plans focused on value propositions
  • Listen to local customer needs and identify solutions. Utilise ABS customer database (CRM) where appropriate and build segmentation knowledge
  • Develop a keen understanding of competitors in markets, anticipating their actions, and crafting proactive strategies to respond effectively. Communicate any relevant market trends and competitor activities through both informal channels and formal monthly reports
  • Work with the Genus Finance Partner to provide monthly, quarterly and annual financial forecasts and advise changes. Take accountability for bad debt and cash collection
  • Interpret internal or external business issues and recommend best practices

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Management and/or Agriculture
  • International business development preferred; extensive commercial retail or wholesale route to market management experiences with demonstrable impact
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of your time
  • English language capability to a professional standard
  • Multi-lingual capability an advantage
