ABS Global, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in process improvement and engineering projects. The position is located in DeForest, Wisconsin. As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to support process analysis, documentation, and improvement initiatives. We’re looking for someone who is curious, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and ready to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

 

The hourly compensation range for this position is $18-$22 USD. This is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

You Will

You will:

  • Get hands-on experience by documenting and analyzing current manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to implement small-scale process changes and learn how real-world manufacturing works.
  • Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Collect and organize production data for analysis and reporting—your insights will help drive efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing engineering drawings and specifications under supervision.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean principles and basic problem-solving tools.
  • Contribute to safety and quality initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
  • Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.
  • Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
  • Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

 

Basic Qualifications (required):

  • Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Year of experience: No prior experience required; coursework or projects in manufacturing or process improvement preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Available for 12 weeks during the summer.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience with CAD software or basic engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
