Role Overview

Reporting to the Health Assurance Manager (Spain), you will contribute to the delivery and evolution of PIC’s Health Assurance Programme. Your work will focus on protecting the supply chain, supporting customer success, and advancing health standards through data-driven and science-led approaches.

You Will

Health Assurance & Risk Management

  • Deliver and continuously improve the Health Assurance Programme across PIC multiplication systems
  • Monitor herd health and surveillance programs, ensuring compliance and effectiveness
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to protect supply and customer herds
  • Support disease prevention and elimination initiatives across internal and customer farms

Data, Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the collection, analysis, and interpretation of health and production data
  • Provide timely and accurate health status updates to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Support applied research projects to develop and validate innovative health solutions

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong, professional relationships with customers and production teams
  • Partner with Technical Services to maximise genetic performance within customer herds
  • Provide practical, evidence-based recommendations to improve herd health and biosecurity

Collaboration & Industry Contribution

  • Work closely with genetic and production teams to support safe and effective gene transfer (including imports/exports)
  • Represent PIC in industry forums, sharing scientific knowledge and best practices
  • Participate in events and initiatives that strengthen PIC’s value proposition in health assurance

Professional Development

  • Continue developing expertise through fieldwork, training programmes, and industry engagement
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends and innovations in swine health and production

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine and license to practice in Spain
  • Significant experience in swine health, diagnostics, and epidemiology within modern pork production
  • Demonstrated expertise in disease surveillance, biosecurity, and herd health management

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with experience interpreting health and production data
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
  • Collaborative approach, comfortable working across matrixed environments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal)

Tackling climate change
