Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced people manager with a strong understanding of agriculture and bovine genetics to lead and develop our specialist service team.

 

This is a varied, field-based leadership role where you will combine people management, coaching and operational delivery.

 

You will help your team provide an excellent service to customers while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and performance.

 

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, support continuous improvement and play an important role in strengthening the integration and efficiency of our service offering.

Salary from £39,500 - salary offered will be dependent on experience

Location - you will need to be located in the North Wales/Welshpool area

You Will

Reporting directly to the Regional Business Manager, you will support the operational delivery and people management of Service to ensure compliance and consistency across the Service function.

Key responsibilities

Service Management and Performance

Provide direct line management to specialist team members, including setting clear objectives, facilitating training and managing their development. Supporting employees returning to work from periods of absence with return-to-work interviews to support employee wellbeing. Overall people line management of direct reports.

 

Field Support and Coaching

Regularly ride out with Specialists based on individual needs, providing hands-on technical guidance, ensuring service excellence, and following up with constructive feedback and coaching.

 

Enhance Service Integration and Efficiency

Work with RBM to enhance Service efficiency ensuring we improve service recovery and utilise service with the most profitable customers and prospects. Work closely with RBMs and SBAs to execute service pricing strategy, including implementation of insemination agreements, RMS contracts. Support with maximising flask revenue.

 

Farm Risk Assessments

Conduct thorough farm risk assessments in line with H&S goals, to ensure safety standards are met and regulatory compliance is maintained, supporting a safe working environment for all team members.

 

Stores and Stock

Manage local stores and stock levels, ensure accurate stock records, timely replenishment of supplies, regular stock audits. Ensure local stores are maintained and safe and in line with H&S requirements.

 

New Employee Onboarding

Oversee onboarding and ongoing support of new team members, ensuring they are fully equipped to deliver high-quality service in their Specialist roles and take accountability for compliance goals and expectations. This includes CRM, fertility reviews, performance management, training, ride outs, compliance, Lightfoot, H&S and flask capacity reporting.

 

Promote a Culture of Safety

Take ownership for ensuring that the Company’s and legal Health and Safety regulations are complied with at all times. Ensuring that the goals are clearly communicated and implemented across specialist teams, reviewed regularly, progress tracked and remedial actions identified and addressed.

 

DIY and Specialist Support

Work alongside technical service staff to identify and correct specialist underperformance conception rates, develop our DIY training offering and support customers.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Operations Hub Team, Sales Team and the TAG Team to conduct in-depth service reviews for customers. Highlight RMS (Reproductive Management System) successes, demonstrate value, and identify opportunities to enhance service delivery. Produce reports for DIY customers alongside SBAs as required in line with growing semen volume.

 

Advocacy and Change Leadership

Leads by example through consistent, values-driven behaviour, acting as a visible advocate for positive change and fostering a culture of accountability and improvement.

 

Flask Cover

Emergency flask cover as and when required. This represents approximately 5% of the position.

Requirements

Essential experience and skills

  • Previous experience dealing with shift patterns and rotas
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships across different areas of a business
  • Knowledge of bovine genetics and agriculture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • People management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Effective time management and the ability to manage a busy schedule
  • Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Education and qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in agriculture, animal science or a related discipline is desirable
  • Equivalent practical experience will also be considered
  • A full UK driving license is required

The role requires travel within the UK
