Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a student to join our Reproductive biology team this Summer (12 weeks (about 3 months)) as a Molecular Biology Intern in the Deforest area. The selected participant will learn how to collect samples from animals, Nucleic acid isolation, PCR, data collection and analysis. Additionally, the participant will collaborate with other research staff to learn how to collect eggs from ovaries, conduct IVF and grading embryos.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

-Sample collection (Blood, ovary, oocytes and embryos) from farm animals and processing to isolate nucleic acid and proteins.

-Performing cDNA synthesis, PCR, RT-qPCR and other molecular analysis.

-Data organization, analysis and presenting in weekly lab meeting.

-Routine lab work including but not limited to making inventory, running agarose gels, maintaining lab records and attend different training program as required.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Fundamental knowledge of animal physiology and molecular biology and deep interest to learn and work in the same area.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory operation such as pipetting, electrophoresis, centrifugation and other techniques involved in routine molecular biology research.
  • Pursuing an Agribusiness, Animal Science, Biology, Dairy or Veterinary degree or related field is preferred but not required.
  • Understand the general farm operation and handling cattle including reproductive skills and safety procedures.
  • Willingness to travel to the farms and occasionally work on weekends.
  • Ability to continuously work on bench for 3-4 hours
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Gain an understanding of GENUS proven technical solutions through hands-on involvement and training with, staff, and local management.
  • Exposure to real industry seminars, in-house meetings, and publications.
  • Ensure ABS Global is a healthy and safe environment to work by observing both the company safety rules and the policies/guideline.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude.
  • Ability to learn quickly and accept challenges
  • Able to work at least 12 weeks as a Molecular Biology Intern in the DeForest area.
