R&D Commercial Liaison Embryologist

We are seeking a motivated Data Scientist to join the Data Science Team in pioneering research to transform the global animal protein industry.

Under the direction of the Strategic Embryo Account Manager and the Director of Reproductive Biology, the Liaison will coordinate, manage, and lead implementation of new technologies from R&D into the commercial bovine IVF laboratories, in addition to participating in the operation of the commercial IVF lab. The Liaison will work closely with the Commercial Laboratory Managers as well as the R&D IVF Team lead and the Reproductive Biology Project Manager to ensure timely implementation of new technologies. The Liaison will be expected to spend some time in the Madison, WI R&D laboratories for training, approximately 5 weeks per year. This position will be expected to conduct training of commercial embryology teams in the use of newly developed technologies in the areas of media systems and protocol improvements, microfluidics, automation, and diagnostic assays, for example. The Liaison will also be expected to prepare reports of implementation for leadership.

• Coordination of daily routine lab procedures including but not limited to maturation of bovine oocytes, semen thawing and preparation, in vitro fertilization, in vitro culture of embryos, evaluation of embryo grade and stage, cryopreservation of bovine embryos, loading embryos in straws for embryo transfer, and media preparation.
• Receive training as appropriate in newly developed technologies from the Genus R&D IVF team.
• Confidently and competently train others in the use of new technologies.
• Plan and coordinate details, manage processes, and lead implementation of R&D inventions in the commercial IVF laboratories.
• Encourage and support communication between commercial IVF laboratories and R&D teams.
• Provide feedback on commercial use to R&D personnel.
• Assist with implementation of an embryo software solution.
• Champion R&D initiatives for commercial implementation, evaluating opportunities for optimized processes.
• Educate current commercial team(s) on the benefits and expected outcomes of R&D initiatives.
• Oversee the calibration and maintenance of key lab equipment such as incubators, autoclave, lab hoods, centrifuge, nitrogen tanks and microscopes.
• Execute analysis of results and trouble shooting
• Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays depending on production demands.
• Exceptional follow-through consistently demonstrating ability to organize and prioritize work for timely completion.
• Report out results to the teams and to leadership regarding outcomes of implementation efforts.
• Acquire and apply new knowledge by reading the literature and attending professional meetings and seminars.
• Communicate clearly and regularly with other team members, Embryologists, Managers, Scientists, and Directors.
• Demonstration of an in depth of knowledge of SOPS, application of principles, concepts, production practices and standards.

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Biology, Biomedicine, Cell and Molecular Biology, or related field required.
• Master’s degree with a focus on reproductive physiology/ART strongly preferred.
• In-depth technical and scientific knowledge of IVF and embryology required.
• Two (2) years of professional experience working with oocytes and embryos preferred.
• Previous experience in collection of scientific data, statistical analysis, and generation of scientific reports including presentation is desired.
• Experience in and knowledge of commercial bovine IVF enterprise is desired.
• Collaborate with team members to identify knowledge gaps.
• Assist with the training of new employees and ensure compliance with standard operation procedures.
