Role Overview

The Sustainability Manager will plan, implement, and manage the organization's sustainability programs to reduce and minimize the environmental impact of operations.  This role is responsible for communicating the organization's sustainability vision and program information and monitoring and facilitating progress of sustainability programs consistent with strategies, goals, measurements, and reporting standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Propose, establish, and manage sustainability projects across the companies owned operations to reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions
  • Support external partnerships and programs that share and highlight the role that genetic improvement plays in a sustainable food system
  • Help quantify, track, manage and report sustainability project outcomes and impacts
  • Support corporate reporting requirements to parent company Genus, ensuring appropriate data and impacts in accordance with UK reporting standards
  • Support the introduction and launch of gene editing technology in the protein sector
  • Assist with developing, refining, and implementing PIC sustainability strategy across our global business
  • Interact with internal teams and external consultants to deliver specified results while ensuring alignment across business functions
  • Assist in managing department budget, including oversight of relevant invoicing
  • Work with PIC Marketing to manage internal and external sustainability communications, including newsletters and companywide updates
  • Create internal processes and procedures to standardize and streamline workstreams
  • Identify programmatic gaps and continual improvement opportunities

Requirements

  • University degree required; advanced degree preferred such as MBA, Agriculture engineering, Environmental Science, Economics or related field
  • A minimum of two years of experience working within a corporate environment with proven sustainability experience
  • Proven and strong project management skills
  • Highly organized and data driven
  • Leadership skills and vision with respect to market acceptance and stakeholder management
  • Understanding of corporate sustainability and reporting requirements
  • Passionate about creating a more sustainable food system
  • Ability to operate effectively in environments with many diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills are required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems in an empowered, self-directed/managed work environment
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%
