Role Overview

Quality technicians are responsible for conducting testing procedures after production to ensure products comply with quality standards.  Quality Control Technicians are responsible for maintaining quality-assurance processes, testing products, and recording and analyzing results.  Reporting to a quality manager, quality control technicians follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to best production practices and product quality standards, as well as monitoring the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of processes.  Technician will also work with deployment team to organize and plan for upcoming deployments.  Technician will coordinate and schedule all training of new employees.  Technician may be asked to travel to assist with new lab setup and work flow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform and support daily, weekly, and monthly quality control testing, inspections and procedures using four routine assays 
  • Record and update all documentation and results in a timely fashion for each assay in the appropriate format  
  • Update and maintain the Quality Control record logs and spreadsheets of necessary data 
  • Weekly maintenance of quality control equipment to ensure proper fabrication of IntelliGen product 
  • Report any quality errors or issues related to product information from R&D, production, or results to Quality Assurance 
  • Report results, issues and roadblocks to the Quality Control Supervisor 
  • Comply with established quality, safety, and environmental procedures and policies 
  • Assist with writing new SOPs, guides, and manuals 
  • Participate in validation efforts, including additional testing as needed 
  • Assist with data analysis as required 
  • Mentor and train new technicians on quality control assays and OQC workflows 
  • Assist in the development of new technicians through the Quality Control progressions, starting as QC I through being fully trained and equipped at a QC II level 
  • Ensure sufficient quantity of consumables and reagents stocked for trainings to occur. 
  • Create and monitor training schedule of new hires. 
  • Maintain and update all training programs, guides, and schedules
  • Actively participate in Deployments, including physically setting up of new OQC labs and validation of all QC instrumentation 
  • Collaborate with Deployment Team to ensure consumables and reagents listing is accurate and up to date.  Suggest alternatives as needed.   

Requirements

  • Minimum associate degree in related field or equivalent work experience required 
  • Travel required, including 2-3 weeks every 2-3 months 
  • Background knowledge of cellular and molecular biology  
  • Experience in analyzing progressive motility of sperm cells 
  • Experience with plating samples for bacterial analysis 
  • Experience in DNA isolation and PCR 
  • Experience with manufacturing media and reagents to specification 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office required 
  • DNA isolation and PCR experience a plus
