Role Overview

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, PIC Russia

 

In this position you will provide on-site service and support in a key PIC nucleus contractor farm. This may include a range of activities related to acceleration of genetic progress, improvement of production and production indicators. You will be proposing initiatives related to the introduction of a Technical Program on the farm, as well as availability, selection and shipment (with ordering), ensuring that breeding boars and pigs produced and sold on this Elite Farm (reproducer) comply with the highest quality standards.

You Will

  • Ensuring communication and implementation of PIC-coordinated recommendations on animal health, genetics and production management, as well as product specifications, with monitoring of implementation.
  • Work within a team dynamic to:
  • Train and support farm employees for successful implementation and best practice for pigs and Boar production
  • Working together with the farm manager and employees to ensure that goals are achieved and plans are fulfilled
  • Ensure the fulfillment of both plans for the PIC and for the Elite Farm
  • Implement and control of reliable testing and selection programs
  • Implement and control of Breeding Programs to manage and increase the herd and animal index
  • Supervise & monitor sample collection and data entry for DNA testing
  • Ensure data is recorded and selecting and testing occurs on candidates for testing
  • Prepare monthly reports on target parameters vs. actual results
  • Manage timely data entry and running of reports from PICTraq Fill product orders and assist in the loading of products to customers.
  • Provide accurate and timely availability reports and work closely with the logistics team to ensure orders are placed to meet target sales rate
  • Ensure PIC Biosecurity protocols are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure standards of conduct in dealing with customers, employees and allied industry in matters relating to social, professional and ethical obligations

Requirements

  • Degree level education, in an animal science field is preferred and a minimum of five years’ experience within intensive swine production systems
  • Extensive experience of swine production practices and corresponding economics in various system designs
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as resilience
  • Proficiency with computer hardware and software tools
  • Working knowledge of contemporary record-keeping systems
  • Ability to work in a team environment and influence employees at all levels
  • Ideally proficient in written and spoken English
