Role Overview

PIC Canada, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Truckwash Technician to care for animals during transportation including ensuring a clean trailer. The position is located in our Carlyle, SK location. The Truckwash Technician has primary accountability for ensuring animal safety and cleanliness. The successful candidate will be team oriented, care for animal needs and health, and work well with all safety and bio-security protocols.

You Will

  • Follow the requirements and guidelines of the Company’s Safety Program
  • Adhere to bio-security protocols
  • Abide by all company policies, procedures and guidelines as directed by farm leadership
  • Flexibility with a willingness to change plans according to the direction of farm leadership
  • Work as a team player by accomplishing daily department work requirements and farm goals
  • Assist in moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flows
  • Sanitize and wash multiple areas on the farm using high pressure equipment
  • Load and shuttle sales/export animals to customer trucks
  • Wash internal trailers, slaughter trailers and/or sales trailers
  • Load animals on tri axle trailers
  • Maintain accurate and timely production information and records as required
  • Assist with maintaining truck wash, office cleanliness, and laundry duties
  • Adhere to the Company’s animal care policies and procedures including: providing a physical environment that meets the animal’s needs, providing access to adequate water and high-quality feed, providing humane treatment of the animals, providing identification and appropriate treatment of animals in need of health care and following the guidelines for euthanasia
  • Responsible for compliance with all environmental laws and procedures as well as report all environmental issues immediately to supervisor
  • Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and how it applies to their specific worksite
  • Responsible for understanding all safety requirements of the job and performing the job in compliance with those safety requirements
  • Daily animal husbandry tasks
  • All other duties as assigned necessary for the care of the swine and/or the swine facility
  • Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision
  • Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours
  • Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Basic Qualifications: (required)

  • Driver’s License
  • Ability to conduct physical labor including walking 2-5 miles/day, lifting up to 50lbs, and work in leaned-over or squatting positions two feet above the floor
  • Strong commitment to teamwork
  • Willingness and ability to shower in and out of facility daily
  • Ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situations
  • Must be able to work overtime hours per week as needed operationally
  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed
  • Must be on call to work in emergency situations including but not limited to, power outages, or personnel shortages
  • Must be able to operate a high-pressure washing system
  • Ability to work with a range of antibiotics, tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and frequently noisy conditions
  • Authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship

  • Previous livestock handling
