Role Overview

 

Genus strives to provide beef, dairy and pork producers with superior breeding stock to enable the production of affordable and nutritious animal protein for consumers.  Xelect is the Aquaculture division of Genus and is a fast-growing biotech company, specialising in providing aquaculture genetics services for some of the world’s leading fish and shrimp producers. We support around 30 breeding programmes, in 12 different countries for 13 different species.

We are currently recruiting for a Marketing and Business Development Manager to join our diverse team.

This is a critical role for Xelect, to help develop customer initiatives, identify opportunities for growth and  develop and maintain a vibrant suite of marketing communications and materials.

Reporting directly to the Global Head of Xelect based in St Andrews, Scotland.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building awareness of the Xelect brand - Development and implementation of strategic marketing plans and brand plans for the Xelect services across the Globe.
  • Develop and support the execution of the strategic marketing and communication plans.
  • Develop and execute tactical marketing campaigns for the Xelect offering.
  • Nurture and manage our customer pipeline, maintaining a consistently high volume of qualified leads and prospects and negotiate appropriate contractual agreements.
  • Create, analyse, and optimise our multi-channel marketing activities; sourcing and identifying suitable marketing technologies.
  • Managing and maintaining a CRM database
  • Influence, develop and implement improved ways of translating the full genetic services and improvements offered to customers and prospects.
  • Develops strong relationships with Xelect Team including breeding managers, finance, and the Lab Team.

Business Overview

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, marketing, and/or communications, preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a marketing role creating and running multi-channel marketing campaigns, on time and on budget.
  • Ideally knowledge and experience of CMS platforms (especially WordPress) and UX, campaign analytics including Google Analytics, creating, and optimising SEO, SEM and PPC campaigns.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of brand management and adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Experience in Aquaculture and in an international company preferred.
  • Ability to work in a small and multi-cultural environment and be a team player.
